A recent study by Indiana University has revealed that men aren’t threatened by sex toys as many people have previously believed. The study showed that many women think than their husband or boyfriend is intimated by their sex toys but in fact 70% of men stated they had no problem with women using sex toys.
Over 3,000 people from the US took part in the survey and were aged between 18-60. Almost 40% of women that participated in the research said they thought the use of sex toys would upset their partner. Less than 10% of all respondents agreed that ‘using vibrators makes women too dependent on them for pleasure’ so it seems that many think using sex toys is a healthy part of a relationship.
Debra Herbenick, the Lead Researcher & Associate Director at the University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion said: 'This builds on a lot of previous research that has shown that feeling like you can be intimate with your partner - that you can share things with them about your sexual desires and interests - is very important to a couple's sexual life and a woman's sexual satisfaction.
'It's not just the vibrator use but being able to share those parts of your sexuality with your partner that matters.'
